Brandy cove

Brandy cove is a small, secluded beach located on the south of Gower between Pwlldu Bay on the west and Caswell Bay on the east. Being a secluded beach, it is less accessible than Caswell and Langland for example.

The beach is usually accessed by walking along the coastal path around from either Pwlldu Bay, Caswell Bay or walking from Bishopston village.

Brandy cove gets its name from the smuggling trade which was rife in the area during the 18th century. Smugglers used the beach to unload their contraband without being noticed as it was and still is a secluded area.

One other interesting point about Brandy cove is its geology. The rocks surrounding the beach contain layers showing that the sea levels between 1.8 million and 10,000 years ago were 30ft higher than they are today.
